Privacy Policy

Bout IQ ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by Apex-Corner Apps Ltd. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.
1. Who We Are
Apex-Corner Apps Ltd operates the Bout IQ mobile application. Contact us at [email protected] with any privacy questions.
2. Data We Collect
When you create an account and use Bout IQ, we collect:
- Account information — your full name and email address
- Training data — sessions you log (sparring, conditioning, running, nutrition, recovery)
- Heart rate — if you pair a chest strap or watch, we record your heart rate about once a second for the length of a session, and work out zones, averages and calories from it
- Precise location — if you use the GPS run tracker, your route is recorded while the run is in progress, including when the app is in the background, and is stored only if you save the session
- Nutrition and body data — meal logs, body weight, body measurements and macro tracking you enter
- Messages — messages between you and the coaches at your gym
- Gym information — the gym you belong to and your role (coach or fighter)
- Subscription status — which plan you are on, and whether it is active
- Crash and diagnostic reports — if the app fails, so we can fix it
We do not hold your card details. Payments are taken by Apple or by Stripe and we never see the card number.
3. Health and Fitness Data
Bout IQ is a training app, so most of what it holds about you is health and fitness information: your heart rate second by second, your weight and body measurements, what you eat, how you slept and how recovered you feel, the sessions you train and the routes you run.
Under UK data protection law, health data is special category data and gets extra protection. Our lawful basis for holding yours is your explicit consent, which you give by entering the information, pairing a heart-rate strap, or turning on the Apple Health connection. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting the data, disconnecting the strap or Apple Health, or deleting your account (Section 7). Withdrawing does not affect anything we did before you withdrew.
Who can see it. You can. So can the coaches at the gym you belong to — that is the point of the app, and it is what a coach needs to train you safely. Nobody at another gym can see it. Other fighters cannot see it. If you train on your own, without a gym, nobody but you can see it.
Apple Health. If you allow it, Bout IQ writes your completed workouts and the calories you burned into Apple Health, and can read information you have already recorded there. This only happens with the permission you grant on your iPhone, and you can withdraw it at any time in the iPhone’s own Health settings.
⛔ Health data is never used for advertising. Information read from or written to Apple Health is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never given to a data broker, and never shared with anyone for those purposes. The non-personalised ads on the free tier are not chosen using any of it.
It is not medical advice. Bout IQ is a training log. The numbers it shows — calories, zones, recovery, make-weight — are estimates to train with, not medical measurements, and no part of the app is a diagnosis. Talk to a doctor about anything medical, and never cut weight on the strength of a figure in an app alone.
4. Claude AI — Meal Photo Analysis
Bout IQ includes an optional feature that uses Claude AI (by Anthropic) to analyse photos of meals. This feature:
- Sends meal photos to Anthropic's API via our secure server — photos are not stored by us
- Is entirely optional — the app works fully without it
- Only activates when you choose to photograph a meal
Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle data sent to their API.
5. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the Bout IQ service
- To allow coaches to monitor and support their fighters' training
- To send password reset emails when requested
We do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Why we are allowed to. We hold your account details and training log because we need them to give you the service you asked for (performance of a contract). We hold health and fitness data on your explicit consent — see Section 3. We keep crash reports and take basic security measures because we have a legitimate interest in the app working and staying safe. Where we rely on consent, you can take it back at any time.
The free tier of Bout IQ shows advertising, supplied by Google AdMob. We ask AdMob for non-personalised ads only, which means the ads you see are not chosen using your training data or a profile of you. AdMob still processes basic device information in order to serve and count an ad. Paid plans carry no advertising at all.
6. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). All data is encrypted in transit using TLS.
How long we keep it. We keep your training log for as long as your account is open, because the value of a training log is its history. If you delete your account it goes immediately and cannot be recovered (Section 7). If you simply stop using Bout IQ, we will delete an account that has been inactive for three years. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. Records we have to keep for tax and accounting — the fact that a payment happened, not your training — are kept for six years, as UK law requires.
6a. The companies that process data for us
We use a small number of suppliers to run Bout IQ. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Supabase (on AWS) — stores your account and your training log
- Anthropic — analyses a meal photo, only when you take one
- Apple and RevenueCat — take and record subscription payments made in the app
- Stripe — takes gym and coach payments made on this website
- Sentry — receives crash reports so we can fix faults
- Google AdMob — serves the non-personalised ads on the free tier
Where your data goes. Your account and training log are stored in the UK/EU. Some of the suppliers above are based in the United States — Anthropic, Sentry and Google AdMob — so some data reaches them there. Those transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the standard contractual clauses, which oblige them to protect it to the same standard as if it had stayed here.
We are the data controller. Apex-Corner Apps Ltd is registered in England and Wales.
7. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app:
- Go to Settings → Delete Account
- Confirm the two-step deletion prompt
- All your training data, profile, and account credentials will be permanently erased
This action is immediate and cannot be undone. If you experience any issues deleting your account, email us at [email protected] and we will complete the deletion within 30 days.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (see Section 6)
- Object to processing of your data

9. Children
Bout IQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, contact us immediately and we will remove it.
Boxing gyms train young people, and fighters aged 13 to 17 do use Bout IQ. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian knows you are using it, knows that your gym’s coaches can see your training, weight and heart rate, and is happy with that. A parent or guardian can contact us at any time to see what we hold about their child, correct it, or have it deleted.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
